Material summary

ALKEMI is a recycled surfacing material composed of post-industrial aluminum scrap that is set in resin. The strong and durable material offers a sustainable alternative to standard commercial options such as solid surface, plastic laminate, stone, and glass.

Environmental attributes

  • This material is 35% by weight, 60% by volume reused post-industrial aluminum scrap.
  • It uses flake aluminum milling scrap which is commonly burned up as a heavy smoke pollutant under normal recycling conditions and can leave a hazardous footprint.
  • Can contribute to LEED points and accreditation.

Technical information

ALKEMI can be used for numerous indoor applications, such as counter tops, tabletops, or other solid surface installations. It can be fabricated and installed using standard solid surface fabrication methods. ALKEMI is SCS (Scientific Certification Services) certified. SCS is an organization that certifies sustainable materials and confirms ALKEMI’s recycled contents by weight. Using ALKEMI can contribute LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) points towards certification for your project. Available in three finishes: Textured, Honed, or Classic; two sheet sizes: 36”x96” and 36”x120”; two thickness: 1/2” and 3/4”; and 14 different colors.

Pricing information

Depending on thickness and treatment: $39.00 – $60.00 per square foot.
