Summary
Has a golden brown color and then later acquires a natural silver-grey patina, and exposure to sun and rain creates an interesting effect of depth. Good durability and long life spans in harsh climates. No need for paint products to retain product properties, unless for giving wanted color to the wood. Required maintenance is limited to normal cleaning. Protects against decay, fungi, insects and other microorganisms.
How is it used
Modified wood is a durable alternative to impregnated surface-treated and tropical timber. Kebony Pine cladding is industrially treated with a top coat of water-based paint from Jotun (Demidekk Optimal). After a second top coat, applied on the building site just after installation, the durability of the paint is up to 15 years. Kebony Pine should be mounted using acid-proof or stainless screws.
How is it made
Kebony Pine cladding is made of first class pine raw material, and is delivered as dry, first-class wood material ready for installation. Production of Kebony is based on a liquid extracted from biowaste. In the waste disposal phase, Kebony can be treated as regular untreated wood. The raw materials for Kebony are acquired from commercially managed forests with large timber harvests. All their suppliers hold certificates guaranteeing the origin of their timber. Kebony contains no chemicals that can be released into the environment. The polymer is permanently bonded to the cell structure in the wood by means of a process which cannot be reversed.
