What does the word Ecolect mean?
Ecolect is a combination of 'ecology' and 'intellect'. We believe the two go hand in hand. We need to make smarter decisions about our ecological impact, and pool our collective intelligence together. After coming up with Ecolect, we found out it also means 'a language variety unique to a household (from the Greek eco (oikos) for house, as in economy or ecology, and lect for language)'.
Do you sell or manufacture sustainable materials?
No. We connect designers with the companies who do.

I love what you’re doing; how can I get involved?
We’re always on the look out for talented people wearing more than the minimum pieces of ‘sustainable flair’. Check for job openings here.
Where are you located?

How do you determine if a material is sustainable or not?
The definition of sustainability is always evolving, so we depend on three sources – the manufacturer, our editors, and you. Read about our green criteria, and definition of sustainability here.
How much does Ecolect cost to use?
Ecolect is free to use. We've been committed to creating a freely accessible resource since day 1. There shouldn't be a fence up for what we think is important information. Thanks for supporting us in this ambitious endeavour.
